Really? Does the "I'm a level X Y" really need explanation these days? Doesn't TV pop culture make enough geek jokes for people to understand this one?
I don't mean these questions in any deprecating way. I'm really curious about the level of understanding most people have for geek humor. After all, Weezer had a song about Dungeons & Dragons. It's all over TV these days, too, I think.

Well, understanding that we're collectively over-analyzing the bejeebers out of this:
1. I'm probably taking a little extra caution, just 'cause of the use of the word "Pollock". Now "some of my best friends are..." (including my best friend from high school) but still.
2. kisrael.com has a mixed audience. I agree that most people would get the "level 8" part, but actually it took me a while to realize that "reflexes up" was also a specific RPG-ish reference.
Admittedly not a standout in the history of humor, but this site is about entertaining others but also my nostalgic future self...

Такие запросы химкинским фирмам рассылает 1 отдел Оперативно-розыскной части № 9 Управления по налоговым преступлениям ГУВД Московской области за подписью начальника подполковника милиции Д.В. Языкова.
И всё это в то время, когда Президент дал прямое указание правоохранительным органам о прекращении всех незаконных проверок малого и среднего бизнеса. С это целью внесены изменения в Федеральный закон "О милиции" - из статьи 11 этого закона исключены пункты 25 и 35, на основании которых ранее правоохранительные органы имели право проверять финансово-хозяйственную деятельность предприятий.
Видно, об изменениях действующего законодательства местные правоохранительные органы не уведомлены. И не смотрят телепередачи с выступлениями Президента.
Может быть, эта публикация подвигнет их к исполнению указаний Президента, а также к изучению и соблюдению действующего законодательства

Hello. My wife and I bought our house about 6 months ago. It was a foreclosure and we were able to get a great deal on it. We also took advantage of the 8K tax credit so that definitely helped. We did an extensive remodeling job and now I want to refinance to cut the term to a 20 or 15 year loan. Does anyone know any good sites for mortgage information? Thanks!

Появление российских бомбардировщиков Ту-95, совершавших очередное патрулирование, у воздушной границы Канады оказалось неожиданностью для канадских ВВС, пишет 30 июля The National Post.
Как заявил министр обороны Канады Питер Маккэй (Peter MacKay), "неожиданное появление" российских стратегических бомбардировщиков встревожило канадские ВВС, из-за чего с аэродрома в Квебеке для сопровождения Ту-95 были подняты два истребителя CF-18. Он также отметил, что самолеты ВВС РФ неоднократно пролетали в непосредственной близости от воздушной границы Канады, однако в этот раз траектория их полета была необычной.
По словам министра, в прошлые разы российские бомбардировщики подлетали к западному побережью Канады, в то время как сейчас подошли к восточному. В Командовании воздушно-космической обороны Северной Америки (NORAD) предположили, что такая нехарактерная траектория полета может означать, что российские самолеты провели в небе более 40 часов.
Маккэй также отметил, что российская сторона не уведомила Канаду о полете Ту-95. В то же время министр заявил, что российским бомбардировщикам был дан знак - при любых обстоятельствах канадские истребители готовы вылететь им на встречу. Между тем в посольстве РФ в Канаде подчеркнули, что канадским ВВС было известно о намечавшемся полете российских Ту-95. "Полет проходил в международном воздушном пространстве. Ничего страшного не произошло", - цитирует The Toronto Sun пресс-атташе российского диппредставительства в Оттаве Сергея Худева.
Отметим, что этот полет российских стратегических бомбардировщиков Ту-95МС действительно продолжался 40 часов, как предположили в NORAD. Как сообщалось, за этот период, ставший новым рекордом продолжительности полета, бомбардировщики пролетели над Атлантическим, Северным Ледовитым и Тихим океанами, а также над Японским морем.
